Re-filling the automotive fluids is one of the routine maintenance that a vehicle cannot operate without. These fluids are required by every car for it to operate efficiently and effectively. They include transmission fluid, battery fluid, power steering fluid, windshield wiper fluid and more. In addition to these, there are other essential fluids that are needed for improving the car’s performance and ensuring your safety. This article is going to discuss the important automotive fluids that every vehicle cannot operate without.

Brake fluid

Every vehicle is required to have brakes that are functioning properly. Otherwise, your vehicle will not be drivable. Brakes are the important components of a vehicle. Every car or truck will have to stop for a passenger or driver to alight safely. The brake fluid is one of the important products that are needed for the braking system to operate effectively.


This fluid should be replaced after some few months depending on the mileage of your vehicle. A hydraulic force is transferred to the brake shoes and pads when you apply pressure on the pedal. The pressure applied on the pedal is helpful in compressing the brake fluid thereby transferring force to the brake shoes. The vehicle’s brake shoes and pads will not produce enough friction if the brake fluid is not enough. The brake line system should be checked by a mechanic to determine if there is a need to re-fill the brake fluid. Individuals who are experienced with trucks and cars can do this job on their own.

Motor oil

This is another important fluid in a vehicle. This oil is meant to lubricate the engine’s components. It does this by circulating through the various parts of the engine such as valves, pistons, and crankcase. Every vehicle that has an engine requires his oil. Insufficient oil in the engine can lead to failure and seize up of the engine within a short period.



This is a special fluid for transferring heat from the engine to prevent it from overheating. Most of the coolants are made by combining water and radiator coolant in a ratio of 1:1. This fluid works by circulating through the engine. It collects heat as it recycles and then releases that heat to the radiator. The level of the coolant can be checked easily by use of a dipstick.
